1. Develop and implement a process to assess school-wide and individual student progress in achieving the academic expectations in the mission based on school-wide rubrics
➢ This recommendation is valid
 Current school-wide rubrics need to be re-evaluated and modified for ease of use and accessibility to teachers
 We can establish a committee that consists of one person from each department to develop the SWRs (this could be a specialized PLG)
 As a staff, teachers will need to determine the best way to implement the SWRs by course

Comments:
 School wide rubric should be the #1 thing to address.
 Need specific input from departments on the school wide rubric.

2. Ensure that all teachers use school-wide rubrics regularly
➢ This recommendation is valid
 School-wide rubrics should be posted in all classrooms and included in course expectations
 SWRs are a formative assessment and will be used as a benchmark
 Course-specific, summative assessments will be aligned with the SWRs

3. Develop a process to use data to assess the success of the school in achieving the civic and social expectations listed in its mission and develop benchmarks against which to judge school progress
➢ This recommendation is valid
 First, a specific list of civil and social expectations needs to be developed using the data previously gathered
 Once the rubric/standards are developed, the faculty will need to determine how they will be used

Comments:
 Need to develop a rubric to measure civil and social standards.

4. Issue course expectations to each student at the beginning of every course
➢ This recommendation is valid
 At the first department meeting all teachers bring expectations, collaborate as a dept.
 Expectations will be kept in a binder or web-based portfolio of all dept. expectations
 Course expectations will be kept in a binder in the main office, turned in by dept. heads during the first week

Comments:
 Does Plato offer a tutorial for developing class expectations?
 What exactly does remediation and 3-day remediation mean?
 Post expectations online (on moodle)
 Don’t we send in expectations at the beginning of the year?

5. Create exemplars to help students understand the school-wide rubrics
➢ This recommendation is valid
 Exemplars can be developed once the SWRs have been implemented

6. Base classroom assessments on school-wide and course-specific rubrics
➢ This recommendation is valid
 Most teachers are currently using their own course-specific rubrics
 As the SWRs are implemented, course-specific rubrics can be aligned with them and classroom assessments can then be based on them

7. Provide sufficient opportunities for teachers to meet collaboratively to share and discuss student work and assessment results
➢ This recommendation is valid
 Continue the PLG meetings
 Additional common planning time is required
 The additional time could be in-service days during the school year, or days during the summer (which would need to be paid, and would require additional funding)

Comments:
 What are the goals of PLGs?
 Whar are PLGs working towards?
 Ongoing awareness of PLG topics.

8. Provide professional opportunities for teachers to develop a broader range of assessment strategies
➢ This recommendation is valid
 In-service days for teachers – at least 3 days used for assessment
 Work as a department on content-specific strategies
